Permits for Journalists, Researchers, Book Writers, Television and Film Producers

 

Foreign companies groups, individuals who seek to undertake assignments as journalists, photographers, television and film producers, researchers and book writers are required to apply for permit to undertake such assignments. The application (permission forms) will be endorsed by the Embassy and sent back to the applicant. The applicant with the help of the host institution or person should forward the endorsed application form and fee to the;

The applicant (s) should attach a synopsis or script when forwarding both the applications. The application must be made one month before the commencing date of the assignment. The above permit application is separate from entry visa application which should also be made to the Embassy by any visitor to Tanzania.

 

 

 

FILMING IN PROTECTED AREAS

NATIONAL PARKS, GAME RESERVES AND NGORONGORO

 

"Protected areas" means areas entrance allowed by permit only including National Parks, Game Reserves and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Filming in Tanzania's protected areas requires extensive camping, night filming operations and numerous off roads which must be issued a permit

 

1. CAMPING

There is a fee for camping per person per day in a given protected areas.

 

2. PROFESSIONAL FILMING PROCEDURES

                                  (i) Application letter to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism

                                 (ii) Permit will be given including off road permit

                               (iii) Application letters to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) and Tanzania National Park (TANAPA) stating:-

                                     (a) How many days to be spent

                                     (b) How many people

                                     (c) Start date

Charges: USD 100 per person per day

 

3. FILMING EQUIPMENT

            (i) Application permit to Tanzania Information Services (Idara ya Habari Maelezo) CCM Building Arusha and pay USD 500 as an application  fee (Refer permit requirement category above)

           (ii) Obtain list of filming equipment and cost

          (iii) Send the list to Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) (Customs) for  permit and pay bond per calculations of total cost of equipment.

 

N.B.: Payments must be effected within a period of sixty days from the date of notice in writing otherwise the approval ceases. Fees are subject to change. Fees must be paid at the issuing office.
